Croatia signs €410 million deal for 18 South Korean Chunmoo rocket launchers

Why it matters

The contract gives Croatia a future long-range precision-fire capability and expands South Korea's position as a defense supplier and sustainment partner in Europe. The planned local maintenance system could make the relationship a durable industrial and military-logistics link rather than a one-time equipment purchase.

What happened

Croatia signed a €410 million contract with Hanwha Aerospace for 18 Chunmoo multiple-launch rocket launchers, ammunition carriers, fire-command vehicles, precision-guided missiles, command-and-control integration, training and logistics support. Deliveries and support are planned through 2030, with a Croatian maintenance, repair and operations system to be developed with local companies. Croatia will become the fourth European Chunmoo operator after Poland, Norway and Estonia; a separate South Korea–Croatia defense-partnership memorandum provides for regular working-level cooperation, but the systems have not yet been delivered or fielded.
