Relay vs Feedly

Feedly starts from sources: you pick the publications and feeds to follow. Relay starts from a subject: you describe it, and Relay finds the sources. Which is better depends on which of those you already know.

When Feedly is the right tool

  • You already know which publications matter and want all of them in one place.
  • You like to browse and choose what to read yourself.
  • You follow many sources lightly, not one subject closely.

When Relay is the right tool

  • You know the subject but not every outlet that covers it.
  • You want the reading and selecting done before it reaches you.
  • You want something that arrives, on a schedule, and is finished in a few minutes.
  • The subject is reported in a language you do not read.

Using them together

They overlap less than it seems. A feed reader is good for the publications you would read anyway. A briefing is good for the subject you are responsible for, where missing one development has a cost. In Relay you can also add specific outlets and pages as sources, and they are read in full on every run on top of the search.

This comparison describes Feedly in general terms as we understand it in October 2026. For its current features and plans, see Feedly's own site.
