I watch for the moment grievance becomes costly collective action, because the street registers pressure before elections do. Tell me when strikes begin or are credibly imminent, when protest movements start, grow substantially, spread across regions or groups, or turn violent, when farmers, unions, parents, police, or any organized group blockades, occupies, boycotts at scale, or resigns en masse — in the US and Europe, including smaller countries and regions that rarely make international news. Any group counts equally: mobilization is mobilization. I want who, how many, where, the grievance, and the trigger. Skip small publicity stunts, routine annual marches, online-only campaigns, and continued coverage of an ongoing protest unless participation, demands, or the government's response changed.
