I'm tired of demos and promises. I'll tell you when something crosses from 'breakthrough' to something you can actually get.

What I ask Relay to watch for

I track the capability frontier: what humans can actually do now that they couldn't before. Tell me when a new ability is demonstrated in humans, validated, approved, or deployed — drug and treatment approvals, first successful human trials in gene therapy or brain-computer interfaces, new diagnostics reaching clinics, materials or energy technologies entering production, AI capabilities independently verified, new industries taking first real revenues. For each, what I want to know is where it sits between demonstrated and actually accessible to ordinary people. Skip funding rounds and valuations (money is not capability), product marketing, animal-only results, and could-someday speculation without a demonstrated result.

Why it matters

This is a documented move for a gene therapy from approval into actual treatment in China, replacing the established pattern of dozens to more than 100 factor-infusion punctures per year with a one-time administration for the first treated patient. Accessibility is still limited: broader use depends on local supplementary insurance and further follow-up, with no evidence here that ordinary patients nationwide can yet afford or obtain it.

FDA accepts Intellia’s application for a one-time in vivo CRISPR treatment for hereditary angioedema

Why it matters
